As a second-year B.Des student from Kuwait at Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune, I am truly impressed by how relevant and up-to-date the curriculum is. The syllabus is thoughtfully designed to balance strong theoretical foundations with practical, industry-oriented learning, ensuring we are prepared for current and emerging trends in design. What stands out most is the supportive environment, faculty members go beyond academics to mentor and guide us, making the institute feel like a family away from home. The collaborative culture, combined with exposure to diverse perspectives, has enriched both my creative growth and personal journey as a designer.

I am truly grateful to have represented the Fashion Design Department at the GRIP Program, a 10-day exchange program at Chiba University in Japan. Our project focused on tackling social issues in Japan through an interdisciplinary approach. The experience was transformative, as I worked alongside Japanese peers to tackle homelessness in Tokyo, engaged in fieldwork at nursing homes, shelters, and food drives, and collaborated with professors and healthcare professionals across various disciplines. An experience that also offered the opportunity to collaborate with professors, health professionals, and peers from diverse fields. These immersive experiences not only deepened my understanding of social challenges but also shaped the proposal we presented to academic and social panels. Beyond the project, embracing Japanese culture, friendships, and mentorships made this journey an unforgettable experience that continues to inspire me.

The design study tour to Japan was a golden opportunity that gave me deeper knowledge of design from another culture and helped me build valuable connections with designers, institutes, and friends across countries. These connections, especially from a place where design is highly valued, will support future collaborations, guide my career path, and may even open doors to a strong start in the industry. The experience also broadened my perspective, shaped my approach to design, and enhanced both my education and personal growth. I would definitely attend more such tours to learn from different cultures and their unique views on design, as they are invaluable for both life and career.
