Shagun Swaroop is a graduate of the first batch of Fashion Design, 2010, from Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Fashion Design department at SID. Shagun began her career in fashion with Madura Garments Exports, Aditya Birla Group, and later gained significant international experience in the United States, working with renowned brands like Loft and Michael Kors. She holds a Master’s in Design and is pursuing a Ph.D. from Symbiosis International University, Pune. Her career seamlessly blends industry expertise with academic contribution, enriching the next generation of fashion designers. Shagun’s research interests focus on sustainable fashion and indigenous crafts of India. Her recent paper, “Creating A Compatible Design Solution through Sari Drapes for Visually Challenged Women of India,” won the “Most Distinguished Paper” award at the 5th International Conference on Innovative Product Design and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (ICIPDIMS) at NIT Rourkela.
