Sharath is an Assistant Professor with a strong passion for storytelling and teaching. Starting out as an artist, he transitioned into a filmmaker, driven by a love for visual narratives. Over the years, he has worked on many projects for clients in various industries, always striving to ensure their satisfaction. He enjoys collaborating with others and continuously learning new skills to improve his craft. He is deeply passionate about teaching and inspiring students, and is eager to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of animators. Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of storytelling, he is committed to exploring new creative paths in animation and film filmmaking and guiding students toward success in the field. Teaching at SID, he imparts knowledge in courses such as Cinema Appreciation, Design Management, Animation Film Project, 2D and 3D Animations, Stop Motion, and Video Film Project.
His academic foundation includes a master's degree in Animation Film Design from the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, where he acquired a deep understanding of film animation, covering everything from initial concepts to the final stages of execution. This intensive training provided him with extensive knowledge in aesthetics, narrative construction, and the technical aspects of animation. It has prepared his well to succeed in the animation industry and to impart valuable guidance to aspiring animators and filmmakers.
Throughout his career, he has accumulated diverse industry experience across prestigious organizations. At Tata Consultancy Services, a leading service-based company, his primary experience was creating seamless mobile app and website experiences. In addition to visual design, he also worked as a motion designer. collaborating with the team to understand the aesthetics of animations in UX design and create micro-interactions. He was responsible for motion-designing the various apps.
Transitioning to the entertainment sector, at The Walt Disney Company India, Sharath gained invaluable experience in animation series development. Working collaboratively across teams, he refined original content strategies and gained insights into marketing and business development within the animation and television industries.
Earlier in his career, he made significant contributions to gaming and medical animation. In gaming, he animated characters, objects, and environments to enrich gameplay experiences, while in medical animation, he simplified complex concepts into engaging visuals for educational purposes.
His research interests focus on the Cultural and Social Impact of Cinema and Film and Philosophy, exploring how cinema shapes cultural narratives and philosophical discourse. Beyond academia, he has consistently excelled in state-level art and design competitions, achieving multiple awards such as A grades in oil and watercolour competitions at Kerala State School Kalotsavam and Kerala Higher Secondary State Youth Festival. Notably, he secured first prizes in metal engraving, watercolor, and poster competitions, including the prestigious World Space Week Celebrations.
