Global Immersion and Floating Credits Programme
Each year select students from the undergraduate institutes of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) go abroad on Exchange Programs. These students enroll for an educational program at a partner institute (planned and managed through Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) and study a set of courses for which credits are transferred back to their institute. In 2010, a Credit Equivalent Policy was put in place at SIU. Equivalence was brought to credits which were completed at Universities abroad and they were brought at par to SIU. These exchange programs are within the ambit of SIU’s Global Immersion Program. Students may travel abroad for an entire semester or less, even a summer course, and on their return, will present transcripts to their institute and SIU. The institute and SIU shall decide the equivalence of the program and the credits to be made available to the student before the student embarks on the GIP.
UG students will also be offered other value added learning experiences. These will fall within the ambit of the Floating Credits. These experiences will satisfy SIU’s goals of ensuring that all SIU students are exposed to critical components which contribute to their overall development as humane and sensitive citizens of India. This exposure would help inculcate good morals, ethics, civic sense and also enrich the total personality of each SIU student. In order to offer students, the opportunity to expand their horizons and integrate diverse fields of knowledge.
