Mansi Saraf
Mansi is an Assistant Professor in the Fashion Department at SID with over 6.5 years of experience and a diverse educational background and is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Painting. Throughout her career, she has developed expertise in Fashion Illustration, Children's Book Illustration, Contemporary Weaving, Creative Surface Ornamentation Techniques, and Creative Painting. Additionally, she conducts workshops focusing on Batik, Creative Tapestry Weaving, and Tie and Dye techniques, enriching student experiences with practical skills in textile arts.
Her research centers on fostering resilience and empowerment through design intervention, specifically within the Dhokra craft community in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. She is deeply engaged in understanding their challenges and exploring how design can play a transformative role in recent times.
At SID, she is dedicated to inspiring student interest and nurturing comprehensive understanding and personal growth. She teaches a variety of courses including Sketching, Fashion Rendering and advanced illustration, Styling, and Portfolio Making. Moreover, she mentors students on Degree projects, Craft Documentation, and RDAI initiatives, guiding them towards impactful academic and professional achievements. She actively contributes to syllabus design, curate library resources, and innovate teaching methodologies to ensure effective learning outcomes.
In addition to teaching, she is responsible for designing examinations, assessing student performance, and providing constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement. Her professional passion lies in education and creativity. Through her work, she aims to instill a deep appreciation for design's transformative potential and its role in societal and cultural resilience. Her commitment to academic quality, the growth of the fashion industry, and relevant and inclusive education is reflected in her all-encompassing approach.
