Prof. Ruchi Srivastav is an Assistant Professor in the Industrial Design Department and associated with Symbiosis Institute of Design since 2010.
Ruchi graduated in BFA (Applied Art) from College of Art, New Delhi in the year 1996 and joined J Walter Thompson at Calcutta, where she worked on brands like ITC, Bata, Tata Steel, Modi Telstra and others. During her stint at J Walter Thompson Calcutta she worked on publication design of Wills Yearbook along with various advertising campaigns and events for the above brands. She moved to the JWT Delhi office in 1999, where she was exposed to major brands like Pepsi, Nestle, ITC Hotels and ESPN. In her capacity as Senior Art Director she worked on various advertising projects for these brands.
In 2006 she did her PG Diploma in ECE from Symbiosis Institute for Teachers Education, Pune and entered the field of teaching and mentoring children with special needs at an NGO called Akanksha.
Later in 2010, she took a plunge into academics in the field of Design and joined Symbiosis Institute of Design as a Visiting Faculty. She has taught subjects like Design Fundamentals, Brand communication, Product packaging design, Typography, History of Art and Design across various departments for over a decade. In 2019 she joined MIT-ADT, Loni as Assistant Professor in the Graphic Design department where she taught undergraduate as well as post graduate students. During this phase she pursued her masters from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and completed her MFA in Applied Art.
She rejoined Symbiosis Institute of Design as Assistant Professor in 2022 and continues to interact with creative young minds as she shapes them into future designers. She loves being with nature and enjoys gardening. Her areas of research revolves around Branding and Sustainable packaging.
