Theoretical knowledge sharing only consists of 40% of the total teaching load while 60% of the learning comes through practical work under the guided supervision of faculty. Each core course results in some form of media production by the students. They bring out their campus newspaper, produce news bulletins, and podcasts, design advertising campaigns, create content for the websites, shoot documentary films, and plan and execute events.

We have multiple recording studios to provide hands-on experiences to students in broadcast journalism. Photography studio enables them to brush up their skills in still photography and production. Computer labs equipped with the latest editing, page-making, and graphic software hone their multimedia stills. Live coverage of in and off-campus events prepares students for real-time industry challenges. Parallelly,students learn more through faculty-led research and industrial projects in which they frequently get assistantship opportunities. Our school has also built strong linkages with several media companies at national and regional levels and boasts of an excellent employment record of the graduates of our program. The Training and Placement Cell at DYPIU is an integral part of this course. Training & Placement activities are organized at the end of every academic year and the campus selection programs are scheduled. Various Reputed Media companies that include Newspapers,News channels,Ad Agencies,Content Creating Platforms etc across the country visit SMJ for campus recruitment programs. In order to enhance the employability quotient of the students as demanded by industry,the Training & Placement cell provides the much needed training to the students to hone their employability skills. These training programs give the students tips on how to crack aptitude tests,group discussions,interview skills and resume preparation.
