The B.Tech program in BioEngineering at DYPIU is a four-year full-time course with multi track specialization option in three emerging technologies. This program has been designed after worldwide consultations with researchers as well as representatives from various universities, public/private industries, and startups.
To provide more flexibility to the students, we also provide an option of a 5 Year integrated program. Integrated MTech (iMTech) Bioengineering is a five year program where foundation courses are taught for 2 and ½ years followed by specialization courses for 2 and ½ years. Students will join the course after completing their high school education. At the end of 2 years of the course, they will make a choice between BTech or MTech. At the end of five years of the program, successful students get dual degrees of BTech and MTech.
Each internship will be credited in the subsequent semester.
(Each track elective is between 4 and 5.5 credits depending upon the associated lab and tutorials)

Thank you very much for showing your interest in the B.Tech Bioengineering program of DYPIU.
Bioengineering is a richly collaborative and interdisciplinary course that bridges engineering, biology and physical sciences. It is a discipline that applies engineering principles of design and analysis to biological systems and biomedical technologies.
Bioengineering helps to devise innovative solutions to open-ended, unmet challenges in biology, health and medicine. So, the course is right for you, if you are interested in:
The B.Tech Bioengineering course that we offer at DYPIU is different from B.Tech. Biotechnology. B.Tech. Bioengineering at DYPIU is a four-year full-time course with multi-track specialization option in four emerging technologies. The track options are:
A multi-track specialization system is a student centric approach introduced by DYPIU in 2019 (first for its B.Tech. Computer Science Engineering course). It allows students to choose a specialization of their interest at the end of the 4th semester. So, the students do not need to make the decision at the time of admission. This system makes sure that they exercise this option after getting a better understanding of various subjects. In each track, students get to learn 6-7 subjects to get in-depth knowledge of their chosen specialization.
B.Tech. Bioengineering at DYPIU is a four-year full-time course with multi-track specialization option in four emerging technologies. The track options are:
No, it is not the same. In the multi-track specialization system, all the track electives are specific to the track. For example, a student who chooses the BioMedical Engineering track can choose the electives offered only for that track. This system helps the students to specialize in a particular discipline and prevent non-specific choices.
All the students graduating from B.Tech. Bioengineering will get the same degree. Their track names will be specified in their degree as well. For example, if a student specializes in Cell and Tissue Engineering, s/he will get the following degree: Bachelor of Technology in Bioengineering (Cell and Tissue Engineering)
There are three prime focus areas of internships:
During the semester breaks, students can perform internships in or outside of the University. However, during the semesters, students are advised to do the internships in the University to ease their attendance in the class and labworks.
Students must choose their tracks by the end of the 4th semester. The track courses begin from 6th semester onwards.
No, one cannot select more than one specialization. The choice of specialization has to be made based on interests of the student developed during the first four semesters of course. In case, any student finds it difficult to choose a track, s/he can consult with his/her faculty mentors.
In case of a conflict, the track will be decided based on the CGPA of the student in the first four semesters of the course.
Under special circumstances, one can change the track before the end of the second week of the sixth semester provided the chosen new track has not reached its maximum strength. However, the University reserves its right to make the final decision for such cases.
The total intake for B.Tech Bioengineering course is 120.
A track of specialization would be offered only if a minimum number of students opt for it.
Neither Biology nor Mathematics is compulsory for B. Tech Bioengineering. Physics and Chemistry are compulsory subjects taken in 10+2. Third subject could be any of the following: Biology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Technical Vocational Subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Physics and Business Studies.
The admission is direct for students who have studied Mathematics in 10+2. However, non-Mathematics students will have to take a mentored self-learning basic Mathematics course followed by an aptitude test in the beginning of the academic calendar. In case, one fails in this test, s/he will be allowed to take another test by the end of the first semester.
A bridging course in Mathematics will familiarize a student with 10+2 level Mathematics so that the student can find themselves at ease with the rest of the course.
No, it is not the same as that of the Advanced Mathematics course offered in the first year.
If one fails in the bridging course of Mathematics, one can take it a second time. However, in the event of failing the bridging course for the second time, the student will have to leave the B.Tech Bioengineering course.
Please follow the link to apply for this course. Attention, the applicant must select the program as "B. Tech." and must fill all the fields.
Placements are organized for every program being offered at DYPIU. All students qualify for cross-disciplinary placements as per the norms of the Placement Committee.
Bioengineering is an excellent preparation for a career in engineering, in biomedical, tissue engineering and biotech companies. It also gives good career opportunities in the field of management, medical administration, sales, and regulatory practices. Bioengineers also go to undertake graduate study in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, management and law. Bioengineers can find employment both in India and abroad as researchers, design engineers, development engineers, process and manufacturing engineers, and as product managers with good salary packages.
A B.Tech. in Bioengineering allows the graduate to enter a professional career without further graduate study. DYPIU’s B.Tech. Bioengineering program prepares its students to function as engineers who will be ready to get a job in varied job markets, ranging from BioTech Industry to Medicine to Healthcare.
Students can take open electives from other departments. However, the choice of elective will be subject to availability during that semester and also to capacity of the class.
The fee for this. program is Rs. 97,250/- per semester, along with the registration fee of Rs. 2,500/-. There is a one time caution money deposit of Rs. 10,000/- which is refundable at the end of the course.
To encourage the merit in education at DYPIU, scholarships are planned for meritorious students of B.Tech Program.
